I recently discovered that Sky have been billing me twice a month for the past ten months due to a mix up in setting up my account (basically two different accounts were set up in my and my landlords name with my bank details). They agree that it was a mistake, but that I will have to make an indemnity claim through my bank. I argued as best I could for them to refund me directly, to no avail.
The bank say that they always have trouble with Sky and that indemnities only go back one month. Basically, if they pay me the 10 months worth of direct debit, Sky will only refund them one months worth, so they are very reluctant to chase this up. They say that Sky should be sending me a cheque.
Does anybody have an idea on how to get out of this mess ? Is there any statutory body I can complain Sky to, or threaten them with ? The National Consumers Agency perhaps ?
