Getting Irish child benefit living abroad?

I stardted working for an Irish company in october 2006 and applied for child benefit in january 2007 before having been getting it in the UK till Dec 2006. Now We live in Spain and the application is taking ages. In my last call I was told that in Feb this year documents were sent to Spain to be checked by the Spanish authorities. So they won't get an answer back in Dublin at least till may. Anybody with a similar experience? Is there any way to speed up the process?

There are long delays adn huge backlogs in CB section....well over a year. No chance in speeding up the process AFAIK as they can't even deal with the volume of phone queires they are getting. All you'll get (if you can get through to them) is "We will deal with it whehn we get to it ....chronologial order...etc.."
