getting furniture to a 4th floor apartment?

i know this is probably a stupid question but have never lived in an apartment, but am thinking of buying one. however it's on the fourth floor so was wondering are sofa delivery men amenable to carrying it up 4 flights of stairs!?? i doubt it! (i know i wouldn't do it ) but a sofa obviously wouldn't fit in the lift and well id imagine it would probably be too heavy for the max weight as well... is anyone in a similar situation? is it difficult to get furniture up?

Hi,

Some shops won't deliver above 1st floor. I know some people who were given the name of a carpenter to have their suite dismantled because it did not fit into the lift. They had to pay themselves for this service.
