Getting electrics checked

I've had a survey done on an 2nd hand apartment and one of the recommendations is that i get the entire electrical system checked "to make sure it complies with current building regulations and is properly earthed". Is this a standard procedure? Any idea how much it might cost?

RECI offer a periodic inspection service to consumers who would like to have a detailed report on the condition of the electrical wiring system in their house.

The price for an inspection for domestic premises is €363 inclusive of VAT

Thanks so much for that advice. I'm so clueless about all of this stuff. Ye will be seeing a lot more of me over the next while. It'll be all "how do I?" and "where do I?". But I promise to do a search first from now on
