Motor Getting car taxed when change car

Hi
I changed my car last month and got the Vehicle registration cert/dcoument

However i havent got anything yet regarding motor tax and taxing the car like the letter oulining the costs and giving you a pin to go on line to renew/pay

Do i get info re this in the post or is onus on me to contact motor tax regarding gettting car taxed

you have to go into the tax office personally the first time with your docs. Enjoy your new car....

The care isnt brand new - its a 2nd hand car but new to me so does you answer above relate to 2nd hand cars or is that just for new cars
