Simply in a sentence - Can this be done? And if so how would you go about it? Little bit of background the property would be an investment one and would cost approx 120EUR (80STG). Any info appreciated.
IIB certainly do it, and I am sure that other banks will also do so. You will not get 100% or anything near it. You will need to put up a good bit of deposit as well as the property to be mortgaged.
The reason why I ask is that I was trying to do a loan through work (One of the major two banks in Ireland) and they told me that it was not possible to do it because the property was in another duristiction , which I thought was a bit strange because there are countless people who buy property in the UK every year. Re: the property - I have about 10K to put to it and when I think about it unless I got the apt for in and about 110K I would need a further 10K to renovate and pay legal fees etc.
Is there anybody out there who has bought a property up North and managed to complete with out too many hitches?
When I spoke to Ulster Bank about this a few years ago, they said that they could forward quite a high percentage mortgage. I'm guessing that they would be more amenable to this than most Irish banks, due to their connections with Northern Ireland.
First Trust Bank in Northern Ireland will give a 90% mortgage for one (and only for one) investment property. A few of us arranged them through their Newry branch and found them very good to deal with
Just as a matter of interest what type of property can you buy for £80,000 stg? Where is the property? I live in the north and the cheapest property where I live is around £140,000 to £150,000 stg and thats for a terrace house.
