get chewing gum off the carpet

HI ALL,
whats the best way of getting chewing gum off the carpet. i have been told a steam cleaner would get it off, if so where would i buy one for myself for regular use. i dont want anything exspensive, but one that certainly do the job. thanks

I found from B&Q to be very good.

I heard ice cubes are good for removing chewing gum from carpets. And I am sure Power City do steam cleaners and not to expensive.
