German/irish gas-bottle for BBQ question

I have an Irish BBQ in Germany which doesn't accept Irish gas-bottles.

I think the hosepipes (& fittings therefore?) are German 6.3mm and Irish 8mm - its not as simple as running down to local Homebase (Hellweg) to get an adaptor as these are gas fittings, which are harder to obtain?

Anyone any ideas?
(Almost prepared to chuck out Irish BBQ and go for local German model - hence my question on a diff thread)
 
If it's the regulator that won't match up, could you not just cut off the German regulator and clamp on an Irish one?
Edit....If it's a German gas bottle, l see your problem!
 
Correct. German 6.5mm gas bottle & fittings & hose ... to put into 8mm Irish BBQ.

Gas fittings are 'reverse-thread' (look it up! took this idiot three trips to the local Homebase before I realised) and also not that easy to come by.
 
Yeah, I've experienced the reverse thread issue too! My only suggestion is that you have a look on motorhome and caravan websites such as motorhomefacts.com. Many ingenious bodgers on those.
