Gearbox Grinding

[LFC Murphy]

Hello all,

My gearbox makes a funny noise when you are driving and take your foot off the peddle. I have talked to a mechanic who says that it's on it's way out, but to keep driving it.
However I have my NCT coming up and forgot to ask him about it. Anyone know if it will fail?

hey man..sounds like u need a gearbox....sorry but its unlikely u will get away with that sound on NCT.....get it fixed mate!

hi folks

my car makes a noise when driving in low revs in 1st or 2nd gear.sepcially in low revs where foot is not on gas.it sounded like the engine about to cut out.sounded like a gear box problem?any expert advice?

hey man..sounds like u need a gearbox....sorry but its unlikely u will get away with that sound on NCT.....get it fixed mate!

I didn't think the gearbox was any part of the NCT check. I could be wrong.

Maybe its the clutch not the gearbox.

Hi Frank, you mean the clutch that makes the noise when in low gear?
is this most likely cause by wear and tear or bad gear engaging?
