Is it a big job if I want to switch my gas supply from the bulk tank in our estate to our newly piped town supply. With the prices going up steadily, I want to check which would be cheaper.

As far as I know your boiler will have to be adapted / changed as the burners and jets are different for each type of Gas. You will also have to lay a new pipe for the Gas outlet at your gate to the house / boiler

Burner in boiler would need to be changed as mercman has said, because the town supply works on a lower pressure than your tank. Have you a gas fire? if you do, you may need to repipe it as tanked gas is piped to fires using a pipe that would be too small if you changed over (due to pressures again). BG would bring gas to meter position, gas installer does the rest.

No it's only heating the rads and the water. Thanks for the replies. The town supply is being piped all along the main roads at the moment but maybe our estate is too far back from the main road to get it, not sure how it works.
