Gas Fires - sourcing good sized basket

I am thinking of putting a gas fire in a reception room fireplace. The builder has taken out the brutal 1960s job with back boiler and I can - if I wish - knock back a 500m (depth) space, with 1 m x 1m approx of an opening. I want to put in a gas fire and Im wondering where i get a gas fire basket that wont look silly (very small) or give out hopeless heat (I know most already goes up the chimney....).

Any ideas welcome - its a 1900 approx city centre red brick so I'd like to do something tasteful but pretty cheap. I dont want to pay 2k plus for an original black slate fireplace (to match the main reception room) but neither do I really want to put in a cheapo replacement with no character, having gone to bother of taking out what was there

Their standard bigger ones seem to be 585mm. I just had a quick look this ones is 790mm http://www.stovax.com/products.htm?cid=3&sid=28&pid=128 or they can make to measure.
