Hi all,

I'm looking at switching from oil to gas and also need to replace 7 radiators.

i know bord gais give you the name of a contractor in the area and one guy has been to see the place so I'm waiting a quote. the only thing is theres no way to gauge whether he's good value or expensive.

Has anyone done anything similiar recently. The house never had gas and its a 70 year old terraced house so it means bringing a line in with a meter, burner etc

Anyone any ideas as to cost ?

whatever it was yesterday - they announced a 40% increase in price today !!!

had paid my 250 2 weeks ago to convert and canceled today.

May stay with oil -- pay once/twice and use the qty you want etc.

No monthly fee etc.

Hi,

You will see from this post that I considered doing the same myself but in the end felt the inconvenience and disruption was not worth the bother and the fact that the gas was increasing in price frequently put us off.

thanks folks,

just had quote to replace 9 radiators and complete gas installation - 7000 euro

any thoughts ?

We did not have to change the radiators and it was a few years ago and if memory serves me well it was between 3 to 4 thousand.

What is your main reason for changing over? If it is purely because of the increases in oil then it will take a long time to make up the 7 thousand being spent and the increases in gas also add to the situation.

Would you need to change the system/rads. either way?
