Garden shed - what type of foundation required?

Hello all,

I'm looking at buying a garden shed at the moment, approx 8 foot by 8 foot. I was wondering what kind of foundation would be required for a shed like this. It would be going in an area of the garden that just has grass at the moment. Would I need to have some sort of foundation laid or would it be sufficient to have it laid on concrete blocks? Also, I've been looking at some different websites, www.gardenshedsforsale.ie, www.kellybarna.ie and www.gardensheds4less.ie. Would anyone have any experience of these companies?

Perfectly acceptable to have it on blocks. I do. That said if you were fussy and wanted an even surface you could always lay a cement foundation or pavers under it.

we'v one on concrete blocks and gravel bed. no probs.
we'v another double fronted doors we put on legs for kids playhouse. Only issue is felt blew off few months back with force of wind.

Ask the suppliers what is the normal foundation.
We were told that concrete blocks were adequate so we had 12 of those available when the shed arrived. They do the job fine.

My 10 by 8 garden shed is sitting on concrete blocks for 14 years ! No issues.

Blocks are ideal so long as the ground is well compacted and hasn't been disturbed in a while. For wooden sheds they allow ventilation which prevents damp and prolongs the life of the shed.
