Garden shed sides wet inside

Just moved in to new house and put tools in garden shed. During heavy rain on Saturday I noticed the inside of the sides were wet all the way up on the exposed sides, as if they were absorbing rain water.

I need to store tools and equipment in the shed so it needs to be dry.

Any ideas how I can make it stay dry? It's a rented house and the shed isn't mine so I can't replace it.

It's made from overlap wood.

Check the roof felt for damage, it may need to be replaced. After that, is the wood itself in good condition? A couple of coats of a good timber treatments will improve water resistance.

I'm thinking of stapling clear plastic sheeting to the outside - what do you think?
Will not work for lots of reasons ,you need to find out where the water ,rain is getting in and seal where rain is getting in ,

Is there much of an over hang on shed roof, you may need to put eve shoots on shed to stop water from roof coming in through sides of shed in heavy rain,
