galway limerick train

Hi

Given the weather I am considering getting my 80 year old dad up to Galway from Thurles by train. He could get to Limerick grand but I would need to meet him there to get onto the Galway train. I am considering going down to Limerick on the train and doing the return to Galway with him.

There is seven minutes from the time my train arrives in Limerick to the time the train returning to Galway leaves.

My question is does anyone know if this is the same physical train?

If it is I am grand as Dad is capable of asking where the Galway train will be going from and waiting by that area.

If they are different trains then my plan won't work?

Fair play to you for giving this so much thought and effort.

I'd guess it's the same train and platform as they seem to be the 2 or 3 carriage type one that I see on the route.
