Furniture for Rental Property

Hi all,

Where would you go to buy furniture for a rental property in Cork? Obviously want it to be fairly cheap but want a decent standard as well. At a minimum I am going to buying 2 new mattresses, a new sofa and a new living room chair.

There is a kind of flea market every Saturday 10.00am - 2.00pm in a warehouse near Cork Airport (can't think of the name of the guy who runs it). But, anything you need will be in that warehouse - furniture, bikes, lawnmowers etc The guy clears houses and sells what he clears - most of it in good condition.

Directions:- Driving from Cork City turn left at Airport Roundabout and you will veer right and drive straight on ignoring the left turn to the high red and white masts. (If you pass a Dental Surgery on your Right you've taken a wrong turn - go back and turn left). About 100/200 metres later enter to the once privately run "Airport Car Park" on left. You'll see the warehouse in front of you. Bring cash.

The guy also deliver furniture bought.

I would buy new mattresses & be prepared to change them if / when your tenants move out.

Good advice on buying second hand; a clean up and *decent* paint job can work wonders.

Do a good check for wood worm / bed bugs. Again a good clean up & spray is essential.

@Leper - would that be Simon Stokes you are thinking of?

I've used this crowd in the past, but just for office furniture - good price, was delivered & general very easy to deal with.
 
Thanks for the replies, was thinking donedeal and secondhand alright, might have to get the house rewired but the rest is going to be fairly cosmetic although new laminate floor in the living room, carpet on the stairs and landing, and probably new curtains as well will be required.
 
Sorry another question on this who would you recommend for a new carpet? Used Sless years ago and found them decent.

Also where to buy kitchen spotlights?

l'd look at painting the stairs in a nice colour as it looks cleaner and saves smells. Forget curtains & fit MDF shutters, looks much cleaner & a lick of paint is all they need. Try and get an interior intern student (pay them) to get an overall clean look.

thanks, where would be a good place to check out shutters?
 
Curtains would be more usual in most Irish houses; as would stair carpet.

The type with metal open rings rather than curtain hooks stand up to use better in my experience.
