Back in early feburary my wife ordered a bedroom furniture package from a well known furniture shop in dublin and was quoted a 8-10 week delivery time and after a few phone calls it arrived today nearly 16 weeks later.
On delivery the drivers are supposed to strip the packaging and get you to sign that all is ok, (this is in their terms and conditions). They left the furniture in the hall outside the bedroom and asked my wife to sign the docket and when she said it was in the delivery terms for them to strip it and for her to check it was ok, one of the men in broken english got aggitated and said to her to sign sign sign we have 16 more deliveries today.(she didnt sign it).
I had a carptener friend of my coming to put it together and when he stripped it one of the mirrors on the wardrobe doors was broken, and handles on the chest of drawers were drilled in the wrong place and could not be fitted, and the headboard on the bed was damaged and there were only two pieces of timber to keep the matress on the bed and it was sagging in the middle nearly touching floor.
She called the shop and spoke to the sales person explaining the faults on each piece of furniture and was told that a technican would call out in 10 days to access the damaged furniture and if new parts were needed he would order them, she said that this wasnt acceptable as she has relations coming and the room had to be ready for them as one of them is disabled and can not access stairs.
Was told that there was nothing that she could do that my wife would have to call head office, my wife told the sales person that i was furious and wanted to return the furniture which she replied that it was our property now and we would be liable if anything happened it, any advice or suggestions would be welcome
