Hello all

Just looking for a bit of advice. I'm working fulltime but am also now looking to do some private consultancy work in evenings...how will my tax credits be available? Will it be possible to be registered for self-assessment but also be registered as an employee in my full-time day job??

Thanks!

You can continue in your employment with your tax credits allocated there. You can also register as self-employed ( form TR1 ). The only possible limitation is if the work is similar in both and your employer has terms in your employment contract prohbiting any such sdditional work. If your tax credits are fully used at your PAYE job then you will have no tax credits for the self-employment. If your standard rate cut-off is also fully used at the PAYE job then your self-employment will be taxed at the higher rate. If you have spare standard rate cut-off then that is available against the self-employment.

Hi Guys

I have a question in relation to working part-time 2 1/2 days per week paye. I am looking at starting a sideline business. From reading threads i know i have to register as self employed etc. My problem is i may only earn €100-€200 extra per week. My husband works casual and so is on jobseekers allowance. If i do this would he loose his jobseekers allowance ? In other words for this small ammount would it be worth it?
