I am receiving JSA for 15 months and applied for fuel allowance at the start of October,

I received confirmation two weeks later of my application with further forms to fill in and send back, which i did immediately.

As to date i haven't received any more correspondence from social welfare office in relation to whether I am entitled to payment.

Should it take so long? What should I do now?

I'm in the same situation, on Carers Benefit and applied in September and every time I call I'm told a decision hasn't been made yet. Maybe they are waiting until after the Budget on Wednesday when they might eliminate it and so avoid paying anything this year! I really don't understand the delay.

an duin, Fuel Allowance is means-tested, so it's probably taking time to process. You may not get a letter to tell you you qualified, you will just see an increase in your weekly payment.

149oaks, Carer's Benefit isn't one of the qualifying payments for Fuel, so I'm unsure what the section are waiting on. The list of qualifying payments is here:

Thanks Gipiman. My wife is on Invalidity Pension for years and I've been on Carers Benefit for almost 2 years now. This was the same situation last year and we got the Fuel Allowance, but I can't get a decision this year from them.

Did you get it or did your wife get it? Invalidity Pension is a qualifying payment, you would have to satisfy the means test and the other qualifying criteria regarding other household members.

They are just slow processing. This Wednesday's budget concerns 2013 and future years.
