FTB: Few Questions

Myself and my husband are in the process of buying our first home. Couple of questions:
Life Insurance: Do we just go for the minimum the bank require and further down the line amend it to include serious illness cover?
Home Insurance: I have tried www.123.ie and the quotes are coming in around 30-40 euro per month, is this average for a house at 310K and contents at 30K?
Solicitor Fees: How much can you expect to pay on average?
Survey: The house is 6 years old and in great condition, is there a need to get a survey done, what would be the benefits?

My husband is self employed, is there any other policies we should be looking into as he is self employed?

Thanks

depends on your budget if you can afford it get the serious illness cover, although with your husband self employed i would recommend permanent health insurance,so you'll have an income if anything happens to him,AND I WOULD NOT BUY ANY OF THIS FROM RHE BANK.
home insurance seems a lot but maybe your living in the city.
1% is average for solicitors but nagoatiate try fix a price as aposed to a percentage, dont forget theres 13.5% vat to be added to his bill plus expenses.
always get a house surveyed, very few houses show problems but if you get the one that does it will be money well spent, its peace of mind too.
