Freelance Work Tax Question

Hello,

Sorry if im in the wrong place

I was recently made redundant and am therefore on the dole. Recently I have been given work here and there but have to send an invoice to get my money and may not be paid for up to 3 months. So I guess im a freelancer?

What do I have to do about tax on the money I will eventually get?. Do i have to sign on and off the dole?. Im scared to tell the dole office that I have been working in case they cut me off and im stuck with nothing for three months.

Has anyone else had the same problem? Any help would be greatly appreciated
 
Firstly, if you are trading, you need to register for income tax with the Revenue on a form TR1.

You should be keeping good records of you expenses in order to prepare your accounts.

With regard to the dole, go and speak to someone in the Citizens Advice Bureau and ask about that there.
