four month gas bill, has it happened to you?

Ive just recieved a gas bill (1064.44 ).It was for four months instead of the usual two.ie; 21 NOv 08- to 29 Mar 09

The last bill ,date of issue 9 jan 09, was for 342e which I paid near end Jan.

I recieved an invoice on feb 2nd 09 stating my payment of 342e and also stating "no amount due".In other words paid to date.

Then this morning I recieved the four month bill !!
I understood that my bills were up to date as per the 09 Jan 09 invoice,now it appears they didnt bill me for two months,even though I got a bill in Jan for 342e,

I phoned them and they say it was a billing error,and am now faced with this huge bill.

Anyone else have this happen to them?

No dosent seem to have..got a 2 month bill in March...I'm be very upset if it did....that is a hugh bill for 4 months anyway

Didn't get a 4 month bill, but as I mentioned in an earlier thread on gas bills, my Oct/Nov bill wasn't issued till Jan, and was followed 4 weeks later by the Dec/Jan bill.

BG changed their billing system late last year (an upgrade to cope with the new electricity customers perhaps ) and it seems to have caused some problems as you're finding out!

Check out their customer charter (available on the website) to see what comeback or rights you have - e.g. if they've made the error (which they have), do they have to allow you to spread the bill?

gipimann, I did phone them and they have told me it was a billing error,looks like Im on my own though.
Either way I owe the money.
I have told them that I cannot pay over a thousand euro instantly as I understood my bill was up to date as per there invoice.
They have said they will come up with a plan,to pay it off,

Hey, just got a huge four month bill. I did not receive the Feb Bill nor a reminder and when the big bill came in it was on completely different notepaper. I reckon they were doing some kind of changeover and screwed up. I've put a call in to them and left a message. Wonder will they tell me they did not send out the bill. Hope they give me some kind of payment plan. I've always paid my gas bills on time over the years but this one is humongous.

If you register online you can check when your next bill is due and if it does not come in post, you can call them and request it. I have had to do this the last 2 times otherwise I would have been like you and getting a massive bill.

Yes,Beaufighter, they did do a change of some kind and most people got new account numbers.
Re your 4 month bill,just phone them and they will have no problem sorting it out.
In fact I was told ,just pay what you can, which I intend to do.

Must say it was a rather silly slipup on their behalf espicially the way things are at the moment,the last thing people need is a massive bill.

I paid for two months about 400e and they can wait for the rest,I may pay 100e a month.Or I may pay 50e .
Dont hestitate to call as in all fairness they do facilitate the customer,
