Found a cheque from 2004 - is it still valid?

Hi all,

I just found a cheque from Quinn Direct for €2,500 from February 2004 which I have not cashed!!

Is this still valid??!!?

Are you the payee? Is the money still due?

I suspect it will not be cashed by the bank and that the most you can hope for is to send it back to Quinn Direct and ask that it be redated/reissued and sent on again.

The cheque itself is not.

However, you could ask Quinn Direct to issue you a new cheque.

After 6 years, it may be statute barred, but it's unlikely that they will argue that.

The money is owed to me.

What should I say in my letter to them? "Please issue me with a new cheque"?!
