Formica Kitchen Worktops

Just wondering if anyone has experience of using formica in a kitchen, not only as a worktop, but as a splashback aswell. My fitter says it can be done without using those silver joining strips - i.e. bolted together from behind and the tiny gap remaining to be filled with some sort of sealant. It needs to look good. A tiled, stainless steel or glass backsplash are not options.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

i would recommend a brand called duropal,its german.i think noyexs supply them.you can bolt them together. its called butt jointing using bolts underneath and if glued and joined correctly there shoudn't be a gap
