Hi There
I am filling out my Form 11 for 2006. I was a sole trader last year for 8 months (while between PAYE jobs).
I have just noticed that I need to fill in my wifes details on the Form 11. We are jointly assessed she is a PAYE worker and has no other form of income. Is there anyway to avoid her having to fill it out.
At this late stage it's a hassle it bad enough me trying to fill out the form.
Thanks

No, not if you are jointly assessed.

If its proving that difficult you should get someone to complete it for you. Should be able to shop around and get it done on the cheap.

I dont see the hassle of having to fill in details for your wife. Just fill in her gross pay and her paye deducted. If she does not have P60 all she has to do is ring 1890 777 425 and they should give her the details over the phone. Also tick the box for the paye credit. You would have all that done in the time you were writing the your message above.

You may not have to complete a form 11 yet, if you set up your business for the first time in 2006 then you do not have to file a form 11 until October 2008. You do have to pay preliminary tax for 2007 however, but this should be zero if you are PAYE again.
Or I could be completely wrong, but hey, that's why you don't pay me!!

Re: Form 11 + Wife ( Medical Expenses)

Thanks for the Replies.
I am putting in my wifes details. The PC based application is very useful it looks like I don't owe anything and in fact will be able to claim back tax.
However when I rang Renveue I was told that the deadline if I was paying and filing was the 15th Nov, but if I was trying to claim back tax was the 31st?
I'll be doing well to get the form to Limerick by the 31st and my online pin number hasn't arrived.

Anyway to cut to the chase ..............we have a lot of Medical expenses in 2006 and havent claimed back from Health insurer yet. Most of them we know that VHI will give us 50% and therefore we can claim against the other 50% but some we are unsure of. If I claim 50% of all expenses and then findout that the VHI wont pay some of them, do I have any other chance of claiming the tax back on what the health insurer won't pay???

Thanks
