Form 11 after submitting MED1

I filed MED1 form earlier in the year for medical expenses. I'm self-assessed for 2006 so on tax return (form 11), do I include this information again so that everything balances, or leave that section blank?

Filing the MED1 for 2006 on its own without any return of income will have resulted in no action by Revenue and they may not connect the two forms with them being separately submitted. You probably need to complete that part of the F11 as it's from there that the data is input to the Revenue system.

Tks. However, I did receive tax-back already for these expenses - wonder does that make a difference?

2006. I didn't realise I was self-assessed or I would have waited.

Are you sure about that? - I have submitted MED1's and recieved payment without having to submit a full tax return. (I am on PAYE so that might make a difference)

We are dealing with a self-assessment case not PAYE.

No - not yet. Just got a letter stating that my tax return was due. I've gone ahead and submitted it today online and included the health expenses again.. but I've clicked 'expression of doubt' in relation to it and explained why - so hopefully it won't cause too much trouble.

Once you've done that, it will at least be viewed by a Revenue officer rather than just churning electronically through the system with no human input. If there's any problem they will note it from there. The return is in, so you're covered.

Thanks Graham and all who replied. I feel less worried about it now - it's in their hands
