Ford kuga - DPF "Diesel Particulate Filter" blocked,

hi folks,

have a 09 Kuga, low mileage, has been to thae garage twice in last 3 months due to DPF - Diesel particulate filter being blocked, doesn't really effect cars performance but since googled it and seems to be a problem on these cars.. city driving etc.

Now i have extended warranty on car and ford garage is saying there isn't a real problem even though in the UK sales were stopped for 6 months in 08.

what should I do ? dont want to be going to garagae every couple of months ?

I would guess that your DPF is becoming clogged due to the fact that you're doing low mileage in city driving conditions. You need to take your Kuga for a long drive every week to clear your DPF.

I can see this becoming a common problem in the coming years. So many people bought diesel cars to avail of the low taxes. Diesel cars only suit people who drive long distances. They're not a realistic option for those who do low mileage or drive mainly in the city.
