For how long do you keep packaging of bulky purchases?

Can hardly move in my home for all the very large cardboard boxes that housed stuff I bought in the last year or so, eg TV, DVD recorder, stereo, etc. Would love to dump it all but a lot of this stuff was bought online and is still under guarantee so not sure if I need to keep it in case I ever have to return anything. Generally you have to return this stuff at your own expense, only being refunded if the seller finds that the item is (as you claimed) indeed faulty, so should I hold on to the mountains :)( ) of packaging until the guarantees run out? What do you do?

Have to admit to being a bit of a hoarder of boxes tbh. More so for computer/games consoles stuff than massive TV boxes. I just stick them in the attic and forget about them...

If an item is faulty, then you don't need packaging to obtain a refund AFAIK.

If you simply want to return the item (e.g. under the Argos 16 day money back guarantee) because you don't like (or any reason that is not covered by statutory legislation) then you would need the packaging.

Hadn't thought about that aspect of buying online. Yes, sounds like it would be prudent to keep the original boxes so they can be returned in good condition, otherwise the seller claim they were damaged in transit.

Is it possible to make the boxes fit inside each other to take up less space? A game to keep the kids amused maybe? :)

Try the attic and if you dont have one or access easily why not cut the tape on the boxes and fold them flat. Then all you need to do is tape them up with brown tape if you need them.
