Foot problem

A family member has suddenly realised (after 40 years!!) that they walk sideways on one foot and it is only now that it is causing her pain and pressure on her foot. Where will she go to get help, doctors, chiropodist, or are there foot specialists???. It would be nearly like learning how to walk straight again which she has tried but is finding very difficult.

Can anyone point her in the right direction?

thanks

Re: Foot problem!!

Tell her to ask her doctor about getting orthapaedic shoes or even inserts for normal shoes. I got them several years ago for a similar problem. And get the doctor to refer her to an orthapaedic surgeon for an assessment. And do it soon, because if there is pressure on certain points she could end up with ulcers, which are very difficult to get rid of

Re: Foot problem!!

Regarding the ortho shoes and inserts, I'd recommend going to see you doctor and getting him/her to refer you to a foot clinic run by physios in the health board - I know Area 1 - that's Dun Laoghaire, Dalkey etc run one about once a month and they will assess you there....

Firefly.
