Fluttering Engine Sound

Hi,
I bought a Daewoo Lanos 00 last march. It was going grand until the last couple of weeks. It has just now hit the 90000 miles mark.

When pressing the accelerator a fluttering sound (like a cross between a playing card held in bike spokes, and exhaust sounds) sounds. Once I reach a constant speed though the sound stops.

It has since become worse at accelerating especially in 1st gear and can be sluggish taking off.
Also while sitting idling at lights the car keeps reving and shuddering can be felt inside in the car and the dash board etc.

Does anyone know what this may be or how expensive it is likely to be?
Should a normal back yard mechanic be able to treat it or would I have to try and find a daewoo dealer.
Kathleen.

Also - does anyone know what it's like trying to get parts for a daewoo in dublin / galway.

Sounds like poss butterfly valve/air mass meter. Check for a hole in the air intake pipe or where the inlet mani-fold meets the cylinder head.

Daewoo dealer all the way. Parts can be ordered over the internet with a laser/credit card from a garage.
