I bought new face plates for flush mounted sockets.

However the screws that came with the face plates do not fit. ("Imperial" size ?)

House is over 25 years old.

Is there anywhere I can get get screws to match ?

Use the old screws?
Or are they a bit manky at this stage?

I'm sure a good local hardware shop could source imperial screws for you.
They would probably look at you like you had ten heads in B&Q though.....

When you say 'do not fit' do you mean the screw bore is too big for the receptor in the wall or that the screws are too short or too long?

Find someone who has a set of imperial dies and turn the screws down to the correct size.

use self tapping screws available from any good hardware or engineering suppliers. In a pinch use ordinary wood chip screws which will self tap into the screw hole. good luck

Plasterer has done his work prior to finding this out so I would be very reluctant to start digging the boxes out.

Wife would not like it either !

Thanks for replies.

Bring the old screws to a hardware shop or electrical wholesaler and ask for new ones to match.
Finding the correct screws would be easier than finding the correct die (and will be cheaper). It's also easy to strip the threads if you don't keep the die square and/or get a bad start on the threads.
Self tappers or chipboard screws will not have nice heads and will look rubbish.
