Flooring for playroom

Hi,

My son is 8 months old and starting to crawl. The dining room is now converted to his playroom and this would probably for another 5 years. I have laminate floors down but would like to put on top of that a softer, non slippery surface for him to crawl on and later when he learns to walk. Please could you suggest types of flooring I could use. It has to be easy to clean and easy to install.

Thanks.

Hi Shaz,

IMHO the laminate is the most suitable floor covering for the job. Carpet is definitely out as it masks all sorts of aliens :D

Maybe put some rugs down on the laminate so he has a soft place to sit and you can clean or replace them if they get manky? I haven't worried too much about the floor being hard for my kids, its a short enough period of time that they are so unsteady and before you know it they hardly ever fall. They do continue to make a mess for years though so laminate is great for cleaning.
