Hey, can anyone help explain the advantages of going for a bespoke kitchen as oppossed to a flat pack kitchen. We are building a house and have been quoted €10,000 for a kitchen from In House(flat pack) as oppossed to €20,000 to 25,000 for a hand made kitchen. can anyone justify the difference in price? Is it the design aspect you are paying for. Our kitchen is pretty simple in design but i would like it to last, don't want to have to change it in 5 years or so. Both kitchen would have solid wooden doors, cannot understand what is making difference in prices. Both are excluding worktops! Anyone in a similiar dilemma or have experience of it???

oh my god thats so expensive. try rock solid kitchens....a million times cheaper and so stylish. i got mine done off them its flat pack with the option of being fitted

Have you thought about designing your own and going to a machine shop with a cutting list .I did all our fitted wardrobes this way. Units are standard mod size depending on your door size. If you are not doing anything too fancy it may be worth it. Get a local chippy or handy man to fit after or chance it yourself. The guys in the machine shops are usually ex fitters themselves, so are generally very helpful.

I got a new kitchen few months back and was delighted with the company. The price for supply and fit was the same I was getting from flat pack (supply only companies). They also do the measuring up .
Not sure where you are located: company I used was Tierney Kitchens based in Balbriggan , no connection to them , just a happy customer

We got ours from Woodworks [www.woodworks.ie - though the website's a bit out of date as their showroom's now moved to The Rise in Glasnevin]. MDF type carcasses, solid wood doors in standard sizes, a (very) few fancy bits - magic corner - but excluding worktops and appliances, cost about €9,000 for supply and fit. They also fitted the appliances we supplied, which was particularly nice. We've been really happy with the service from them and went back to get the utility room kitted out, and will also be getting fitted wardrobes.

If you're interested, I can PM you a link of photographs of our kitchen so you can see how much was included for that. It's not fully commissioned yet - too many builders still in occupation :( - but it'll give you an idea.

Satisfied customer only.
