Flat carpet problem

Hi all,
got a new carpet in December...and in some areas, center of stairs, landing, front of wardrobe, it seemed to have worn fairly quickly. Got the carpet installers out, they said it wasn't worn, rather it was 'flat' in those areas which they say is normal.

It's 80% wool carpet but don't have details of the exact type. They did not offer any suggestions on how to alleviate the problem - but I had a look on the web - there is little info out there - but some people recommend using a carpet rake. The flattening will always come back but you can rake it when you need to.

Has anyone else had this problem? Where can I find a carpet rake? I think the colour of the carpet may make this issue seem worse, it's a light brown, which makes the flattened areas look very light.

Any suggestions welcome.
