Flat Car Battery.

My wife purchased a new car battery for her car. Less than a year later it has gone flat. When she went to make a claim from the garage where she purchased her battery they wanted to know her Chassis no., Registration no. and car mileage? Is this normal procedure?

Yes she did and they said for their warranty. I'm just not sure why they need this information.

They probably need to provide the manufacturer this info - The garage will want to get their refund / replacement too.

 

[Caveat]

I suppose if they were making a claim for a faulty battery from the manufacturers, it would need to be properly logged for quality reasons - taking details like mileage/reg. would maybe help prevent fraudulent claims being made by garage employees? Just a guess though...
