Hi 5 weeks ago we had offer accepted and deposit placed on house. And we are still being told that seller solicitor is waiting on Deeds/Title from the seller's mortgage company. Does it normally take this long feels like we have made no progress in last 5 weeks and was hoping to have things signed by Christmas

Yes, things frequently take that long. Talk to your solicitor and have them start putting on the pressure, ie that you'll walk away if sale is not completed by Christmas.

Yes, that is not an unusual delay in the normal run of things, but with the MIR deadline looming, solicitors really should be working superfast. Of course if the change does not affect you, the solicitors might be superfast on their other conveyancing cases to the detriment of yours.

Hey, In the exact same position, deposit paid around 8 oct and nothingg has happened since as there is a delay with the deeds.. So frustrating as I wanted it done by December..

Not sure if I will pull out now..

I was informed by my solicitor recently that there are huge delays with sourcing deeds, etc. from banks, financial institutions at present which is the source of most delays with house sales. It appears as if there are just not enough staff in the relevant departments to deal with the volume of requests.

Though anyone here who works in a financial institution may disagree with this.

Thanks for replies my solicitor received the contracts for sale and the deeds/title/maps etc. today. A long wait but at least some progress. I presume now its up to my solicitor with the searches etc. I now have no hope of completing by Christmas but would be happy if at least both ourselves and the seller had the contracts signed by 21st Dec. Anyone think that could be possible? We are first time buyers and were hoping for MRI and have stressed that our lease is up and cannot go into new year without the sale gone through.
