Hi there
I am considering fitting a solid fuel stove to my existing fireplace. It is 16 inches wide with a back boiler. Is there much work involved? Would the back boiler have to come out? Would be interested to hear from anyone who has done this recently.
Thanks in anticipation.

Hi Hawthorn, I put a solid fuel stove into my fireplace 6 years ago, its straight forward enough. You will have to remove the back boiler to allow the stove to sit far enough back to allow the flue to extened up the chimney (about 5-6 feet of flue is ample). A good idea is to get your chimney cleaned prior to installing your stove, I also put in an alloy deflector with the flue running through it, up out of sight and angled back into the room to deflect the heat lost through the top of the stove.

hope this of some help to you.
