I am getting 4 triangular l.e.d. kitchen cabinet downlights fitted. Are these downlights supposed to be fitted where the wall meets the underside of the cabinet or can they be fitted just on the underside of the cabinet but away from (i.e. not touching) the wall.

The reason i ask is in relation to whether this fitting needs to be done before i get that area tiled or can be done afterwards.

Any advice is much appreciated.

I had my lights fitted approx. 20 mm from the wall to accommodate tiling - yet to be done.

It'll be easier to tile without them in place, but you could put them in now about 20mil out as suggested above. The tiler could temporarily remove them if they were causing problems.
