Fitting laminate flooring

What is the cost per sq.yard for laying laminate.? I recently got a tiler to put down approx.54 sq.yards of laminate .He had to put compound floor leveller down in 1 section of floor.I supplied it.He charged me €1300 to put it down which works out at €24 euro per sq.yard. I asked in the tile shop today and they told me the price should have been €10 per sq.yard.Was I ripped off? I hope to meet him shortly.

Was the shop assistant at your house to look at the job before it was completed if not I would not listen to what the shop assistant said!

More to the point did the tiler give you a price before he started if so and the work is satisfactory then you should complete the agreement and pay him.

If you did not have an agreement before hand and you have doubts then you should ask him why it is costing so much.

It is very hard for anyone on AAM who can't see the job first hand to judge what you should do.

My best advice is practically all the trades guys I know who are very good at what they do don't charge the earth for their time, but chancers do, so if you believe he did a good job pay him what he is asking.
 
If you didnt agree a price to start then you dont really ghave any comeback. Ring the guy and see if you get anywhere, but if he was charging you that much then I doubt he has much of a concience.


Should have been no more than 10-12 per yard. Leveling a room would be about 50 quid plus the compound. I recently paid 6/yard for laminate fron a hungarian guy (put down some solid as well) as I didnt have the time myself.
 
20-30 per sq mtr for tiling and timber floor. Thats what i go by normally.
