Fitting door in back garden wall.

Hi all, the back wall of my garden is adjacent to the end of a cul de sac. I would like to fit a door in the wall to improve my access by foot to local amenities.

Would this be within my rights? Would I need planning permission?

I know a lot of the neighbours so I reckon if it was within my rights they wouldn't have too much of a problem with it. I would guarantee them that if I ever was to move out I would remove the door and build the wall again.

Anybody any experience with this? Thanks.

Hi,

Welcome to AAM.

Definitely sounds like something you will need planning permission for. Best to clear it with your Council. Knowing your neighbours and a verbal promise from you probably won't work with your neighbours if they have a problem with the door.

Some of our neighbours thought they could slot in doors on boundary walls with no permission but Council were down on them straight away AFAIK.
