Anybody know a good place to buy a fishing rod (I am based in Dundrum & Shankill) & get some advice about fisting from tyhe rocks in Wexford?

`There's 2 shops in temple bar that are really good for fishing gear... only I can't remember their names. however, they're located right after the elephant & castle walking from w.moreland street. they seem to know their stuff. bought a good bit of deep sea fishing gear off them.

Alternatively, there are loads of options on line. google a few stores and call them and ask them to recommend some gear to you.

happy fishing

Which rocks are you thinking about? I have caught quite a few bass spinning in front of the Talbot Hotel in Wexford.
There are also good fishing shops in Wexford, you'd get the local knowlege too. Hayes Cycles/Fishing, and Murphy's are at each end of the Main Street in Wexford.

I will be fishing around Ardamine, just south of Courtown.

The web site I gave you has shore marks and also a forum where you can ask for advice. I'm from Wexford Town originally so I am not too familiar with around Courtown.
This may help too..

I guess spinning off the rocks would be for bass, and If you fish the beach with peeler crab (or maybe ragworm if no peeler) you may catch smooth hound (great fun, but mind your rod!!)..

There is a tackle shop in Gorey, I think
East Coast Angling
Unit 3 North Parade Gorey Wexford

I normally go to Henry's tackle when in Dublin (near the North Strand)

All good info JD, thanks.

My young lad had a lend of a small kids fishing rod at the weekend & caught what i was told was a gernard, using ragworm. What a weird looking fish, never saw the likes of it before. Hopefully the first of many.
