Hello, I hoping to graduate from a Masters Degree next summer, and to enter into employment thereafter. I am wondering (providing I get a job upon graduation), how many months/ years I would have to wait before I could get a mortgage from one of the major banks after I start working?

Thank you.

There are a few questions that come to mind. What age are you, have you a track record of saving or paying rent. Have you a deposit. Is there a probationary period, how secure is the job. Why are you in a hurry to buy a house.

There is a lot more than just how long you have a job.

They'll usually require a minimum of 6 months and out of probation period before you'll be considered. Some industries require 12 months.

Also, don't rush to buy after starting your first job. Things change from leaving college much quicker than you'd think.
