I recently moved from EBS to an offset mortgage with first active and noticed that the monthly interest amount being charged was higher than I expected. It turned out that they hadn't linked my FA current a/c until i rang and complained about out this to them. After a bit of finger pointing between the branch and head office they refund the difference (without an apology).
It would appear that the branch is responsible for linking the current account to your offset mortgage account when it is arranged.
So for any of you out there with an offset mortgage with FA, give them a call to make sure all your accounts are linked, otherwise you won't be getting any interest savings.
Also, for some reason they cannot offset the e-savings type accounts so beware of putting any of your money in there as it can't be offset.
