Fireplace?

Hi all,

My friend has bought a wooden surround for a fireplace. She needs to find the inset for the fire now and wants to know whether it is possible to have an open real fire with MDF as the inset and not granite?

any ideas?

Right, but can't you get non-flammable MDF?
