Fireplace installed before wooden floors

If the fireplace is being installed before the wooden floors, how much of a gap should I ask to be left if the wooden floors are going to be 3/4" thick?

give the fireplace company a sample of the wooden floor and what ever foam you are using, as they can measure it correctly when installing...always leave a gap for expansion aswell, the installers should be able to do this no problem

I gave the fireplace installers small pieces of the flooring I intended to lay and they used these as spacers. The floor went in under the fireplace perfectly. It's a good idea however to discuss the matter with the installers so that you can put your mind to rest.
