Hi,
I am replacing my open fire in the sitting room with a Stanley Cara stove.
Has anyone got some ideas about a fire surround as I have to remove my timber fireplace and just don't know what to replace it with. Would appreciate any suggestions.

Hi Mollybelle,

My sister recently did the same thing but was able to keep the actual mantle and uprights. She bought a new granite insert to match the outline of the stove - this blocks/seals the area around the stove that would have originally have formed the fireplace itself.. Of course, it depends on the stove and your measurements.

We simply put the stove into existing fireplace setting, then tiled one tile over where the hood had to be removed.

You could look at brick or tiles. Or use a floating mantle. Google and and you see loads of ideas or visit stove showrooms.
