Fire - Mansion House

Hi Liteweight

I've been a couple of times. It's not too pricey and I think the service is very good. The first time we went, we'd booked but they didn't have our booking (BF thinks he booked the wrong date ) but they still got us a really nice table in about 10 mins. Food's really nice IMO and nice atmosphere.

Yes, went to a Christmas function there and was expecting the usual Christmas mass produced fare! Food selection (set menu) was great. Quality of food was excellent, service was brilliant. Must be time for a return visit!

Was just there on Saturday night. Party of 3, starters, mains, 1 desert, 1 glass wine, and 1 beer all came to €150. Some of the mains were a bit pricey I thought. Surroundings and service were pretty good through, so no complaints there.

They describe their prawn main course as their "signature dish", but I'd give it a miss. Pretty boring and predictable. Steaks looked good, but not really cooked as requested - such a simple thing to get wrong.

Worth going, but I personally wouldn't be rushing back.

Would agree with this. There a couple of weeks ago. Asked for 'medium' ended up with 'well done'. Such a basic error. Would have expected more.

Was there 3 weeks ago - enjoyed it.

Food was 7/10, service 8/10 and value for money 7/10. (Had the steak and in my case was cooked to perfection).

Hello there,

I was there shortly after it re-opened, wrong wine brought to the table, didn't get our water, brought our mains while we were still eating our starters, didn't get coffees when ordered...... I could go on.

However I did go back, they had a fantastic manager everything was on the ball, food, service etc. But he seems to have left and standards a slipping rapidly. I'd give it a miss. Tiger Becks across the road is really good or fitzers.

I'd definitely go to Fire before going to either Fitzers (very poor service and only ordinary food) or Tiger Becs (average food for an exhorbitant price).

Hi All...Thanks for all the comments! Finally went to Fire. Thought the place itself was lovely and service was great. I had the steak, done to perfection except that the onions accompanying it were way too salty. The other half had the scallops and found them boring He enjoyed the starters more (had lamb kebab). Overall I'd go back and give it another go!!
