Looks like the right strategy to me, apart from the redundancies being voluntary. They should really be compulsory (so they get the people they need to get out) and well paid, so that the fact they are compulsory causes less of an issue. Voluntary redundancies usually end up getting rid of the more motivated staff. The redundancies and efficiencies sought should be surgical, not random.

If the budget could be controlled then I believe the strategy of not cutting capital spending or increasing taxes on employment, investment or consumption is the right one. We need to encourage spending, particularly in light of todays retail figures.

It's a pity Enda is so bad or they might get the current shower out but with yet another stupid ill judged and ill executed stunt today it's hard to see any changes any time soon.
