Finding it difficult to rent out house in Dublin 2. Anyone else finding a similar problem? Have lowered rent by €100.00, and redecorated house.

How much are you looking for? Where in D2 is it? Summer is a slow time anyway, right? Perhaps come Sept (or August), things will pick up.

The house is near Mount St. I'm asking €1,400 per month. It is around 800sq feet.

It's very simple. Go on Daft. Find the cheapest 2 bed/3 bed whatEVER. Make yours 50 cheaper. Yours will be the next one to rent.

If the market turns in a year's time you can look at putting it up again, and at least you'll have a year's rent in your bank account.

Jeepers, I'm surprised that you can't rent it out at that price. A buddy of mine is looking at the moment and is prepared to spend 1600 and is finding it hard to get a good place, although I think he found one, but it's up near Christ Church (so not quite as nice an area) and I think he's paying the full 1600 for it.

Does it have all the bells and whistles? Nice telly, good finish, broadband etc? Have you had viewings by people who've not gone for the property, in which case you could probably sound them out as to why they didn't go for it?

Really, it could just be the time of year - sorry to hear though

There are 15,882 properties to rent on Daft right now, and inventory is rising relentlessly. The country is entering a recession and unemployment is about to rise dramatically.

It is survival of the cheapest in the rental market now. Make no mistake about it.
