Hi all,
I have already checked the citizens information site and sent them an email, but I am wondering if anyone here can answer me this:

My mother needs to get some dental treatment. My father has been on a pension for the past 10 years or so. This is not a state pension, but early retirement.
Does anyone know if my mother entitled to any kind of financial relief on her dental expenses, based on my fathers pension? I know if you are working sometimes your spouse can get tax relief based on the fact that you pay tax, but as my father is on a pension I am not sure if this is the case.

Thanks for any help

Your mother should call Social Welfare on 01 7043000 and ask to be put through to Treatment Benefit, they will be able to tell her straight away whether she is covered or not. She will need her own and your fathers PPS number.

If all depends whether she satisfys the PRSI conditions. Only certain classes of PRSI count.

You should also check out www.welfare.ie and in the A - Z section, select T for Treatment Benefit )
